- RED NOSE DAY -

This is the only financial support of the federation.

This national display of solidarity is based on the selling - 10 FF - and wearing of clown's red noses, to show support to people affected by orphan genetic diseases and their families.

The celebration of good fun: Solidarity of Red Noses

The Red Nose Days express solidarity at grassroots level, while attracting attention to a dramatic problem with a positive spirit.

The red nose is also of interest to people in good health. After all: who could remain stressed while wearing a red nose ?

Everybody can wear a red nose, a student, a cabinet minister, a TV anchorman or a firefighter.

The Red Nose Volunteers:

Hundreds of Red Nose volunteers all over the country are organized in Regional Committees: they take care at the local level to find sponsors, to establish links with the press, to organize the various events of the day and to sell Red Noses. All the associations that constitute the AFRG have been actively involved in that campaign and have succesfully mobilized all their members and their friends.

Last year, 200 000 people bought and wore Red Noses. Therefore, the federation had an operating budget of more than 2MF.

The proceeds of the Red Nose Days were used for:

- The establishment of a future research foundation for orphan genetic diseases

- Financial aid to various support groups

- The House of Orphan Diseases

- Research Fellowships and Grants

The "Rainbow" programme of the French Boyscouts for integration. of handicapped children in regular French Scouts troops.
